A power window that drops suddenly inside the door is one of the more alarming things that can happen in a Mercedes-Benz. The glass disappears into the door with a thud, and then does not come back up. On the W205 C220d, this is usually a cable regulator failure: the steel cables that guide the glass up and down have snapped or jumped their guides, leaving the glass unsupported inside the door cavity.

The Replacement — Step by Step
The W205 front door panel uses a combination of push-fit clips and concealed bolts. Removing it without cracking the clips requires a trim tool sequence rather than pulling from the edge; the clips are angled inward and released differently from the top edge versus the sides.
