Why the GLA 45 AMG Needs a Different Oil
The engine in the GLA 45 is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that was, at the time, the most powerful production four-cylinder engine in the world. It runs hard, it runs hot, and it needs oil that can keep up with that.
Standard engine oils are not built for what this engine demands. The oil used on this service was Mannol Legend + Ester 0W-40, a fully synthetic oil with ester technology that handles high operating temperatures without breaking down. The 0W-40 grade is the correct specification for the AMG engine. Getting this right is not optional on a car like this. The wrong oil under hard use accelerates wear in ways that are expensive to fix.
Air Filter — Old vs New
The air filter came out visibly dirty. The photo from this job shows both filters side by side, the new one bright yellow, the old one grey and loaded. The GLA 45 breathes hard when pushed. A restricted air filter means less air reaching the engine, which affects throttle response and performance.
Chennai road conditions make this worse. The dust and particulate in city air loads air filters faster than European driving would. The filter on this car was due. It was replaced as part of the service.
